Tobias Louis Ravenwood is the only son from Holmes household. Mr Ravenwood works at a newspaper company in London as editor. Mrs Ravenwood works at a hospital in London as nurse. Plus, both of them are Shadowhunters. Their job quite handful and taking most of their time, making them rarely to spend time with their only son. But for Tobias, it wasn't a problem, because he knows that his parents loves him and doing their best for the family.

At the age of ten, Tobias lost his mother. Mrs Ravenwood were sent to a high level mission and killed by a powerful demon. It happened so fast and the wound were too fatal. Mr Ravenwood was devastated to accept the reality that his wife is gone forever, so does Tobias. From that day, Mr. Ravenwood train Tobias to be stronger, so he will be able to protect himself. He taught Tobias about Downworlders such as Vampires, Werewolves, Warlocks and Seelies.

At some point, Tobias could see her mother's spirit around their house. He was afraid at first, because this never occurred to him before. He slowly understand that his mother still looking after them. This is when Tobias discovered that he could see spirits, and also begin to understand that not every spirit is evil. As long as the spirit not bothering him, he won't feel bothered.

Tobias were sent to Shadowhunter Academy to get a proper training and learning to be a Shadowhunter, such as the Marks of Raziel (Rune), Stele and Weapons. He also learn about many kinds of demon that exist. Tobias loves meeting people and he wants to know more about human behavior, that's why he also learn about Psychology. He never went to college and dedicated himself as full-time Shadowhunter. Aside from being Shadowhunter, he has to blend in human world, he has a side job as a freelance photographer.
